The Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE) Wing of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kaithal is responsible for preparing future teachers for the elementary education system. The wing aims to develop knowledgeable, skilled, and professionally trained teachers who can effectively teach students at the primary and upper primary levels.
The main responsibility of the PSTE Wing is to conduct the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programme and other teacher education activities. Through this programme, trainee teachers are provided with proper academic guidance, teaching methods, and practical learning experiences that help them become confident and capable educators.
The PSTE Wing gives equal importance to both theoretical knowledge and practical teaching experience. Student-teachers are trained in various areas such as lesson planning, classroom management, teaching strategies, communication skills, and child psychology. Special attention is given to modern teaching approaches, activity-based learning, inclusive education, and the use of educational technology in classrooms.
To provide real classroom exposure, the wing organizes school internships, teaching practice sessions, micro-teaching activities, classroom observations, and community interaction programmes. These practical experiences help trainees understand the actual school environment and improve their teaching efficiency.
The wing also focuses on the overall development of future teachers by encouraging participation in seminars, workshops, cultural programmes, educational activities, and innovative practices. Such activities help in building leadership qualities, creativity, teamwork, confidence, and a positive attitude towards the teaching profession.
The PSTE Wing regularly works in coordination with practicing schools, educational experts, and resource persons to maintain the quality of teacher education programmes. It also promotes reflective learning and action research to improve teaching methods and educational practices.
Through its continuous efforts, the PSTE Wing contributes significantly towards strengthening elementary education by producing dedicated, responsible, and professionally competent teachers for society.
