District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Kaithal
The Education Technology (ET) Wing of District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Kaithal is committed to promoting the effective integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education. The wing strives to strengthen the professional competencies of teachers, teacher educators, and educational administrators by enabling them to effectively use digital technologies in teaching-learning processes, educational management, and administrative functions.
The ET Wing plays a vital role in implementing the ICT initiatives and programmes of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Haryana, the Directorate of School Education, Haryana, the Directorate of Elementary Education, Haryana, and Samagra Shiksha, Haryana. It also provides technical support to all academic and administrative wings of DIET Kaithal for the successful planning, execution, documentation, and dissemination of institutional activities.
Objectives
- To equip teachers and teacher educators with the knowledge and skills required for the effective implementation of ICT initiatives undertaken by SCERT Haryana and the Department of Education.
- To enhance the quality of classroom teaching and learning through the use of innovative ICT-based teaching-learning materials and digital resources.
- To build teachers’ capacity to effectively integrate educational technologies into classroom practices through training programmes, workshops, and action research.
- To encourage the development and use of innovative, low-cost, and locally relevant Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs), educational kits, mobile learning resources, and digital content.
- To promote digital literacy and technology-enabled pedagogy among teachers and learners.
- To foster innovation and the effective use of educational technology for improving learning outcomes.
Major Functions and Responsibilities
The Education Technology Wing undertakes the following responsibilities:
- Establishing, maintaining, and upgrading the Computer Laboratories at DIET Kaithal.
- Managing and regularly updating the official DIET Kaithal website and other digital platforms.
- Designing and publishing e-magazines, newsletters, digital posters, brochures, and maintaining DIET Kaithal’s official social media platforms.
- Developing and maintaining a display gallery of innovative and low-cost Teaching-Learning Materials prepared by teachers and teacher educators.
- Creating and maintaining a digital repository of educational videos, audio resources, e-content, presentations, and other learning materials.
- Organizing pre-service and in-service training programmes on Educational Technology, ICT integration, and digital pedagogy for teachers and pupil teachers.
- Promoting the effective utilization of educational broadcasts, ICT tools, digital learning resources, and low-cost teaching aids.
- Providing technical and academic support to all DIET Kaithal wings in the areas of teacher education, field interaction, extension activities, material development, research, and institutional programmes.
- Encouraging the effective integration of ICT into classroom teaching-learning practices.
- Developing digital learning resources, e-content, and multimedia instructional materials aligned with the school curriculum.
- Supporting smart classroom initiatives, blended learning, online training programmes, and technology-enabled educational practices across the district.
The Education Technology Wing of DIET Kaithal continues to serve as a catalyst for educational innovation by promoting digital transformation, enhancing teachers’ professional competencies, and facilitating the effective use of technology to improve the quality of school education across the district.
