Curriculum, Material Development & Evaluation (CMDE) Wing
The Curriculum, Material Development & Evaluation (CMDE) Wing of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Kaithal is an important academic unit dedicated to improving the quality of elementary education through effective curriculum planning, development of educational materials, and better evaluation practices. The wing focuses on making teaching and learning more meaningful, practical, and student-friendly in accordance with changing educational needs.
The CMDE Wing works towards designing, reviewing, and strengthening curriculum frameworks by following the guidelines issued by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). It also adapts educational content according to local requirements so that students can connect classroom learning with their real-life experiences.
A major responsibility of the wing is the preparation and improvement of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs). These include textbooks, worksheets, activity books, digital content, teaching aids, and supplementary learning resources. The materials are developed to encourage activity-based learning, creativity, participation, and competency-based education. The wing also assists teachers by providing useful academic resources that help make classroom teaching more interactive and effective.
The CMDE Wing gives special attention to student assessment and evaluation systems. It develops question banks, assessment formats, evaluation tools, and learning outcome-based testing methods to ensure fair and continuous assessment of students. Teachers are also trained in modern evaluation techniques so they can better understand student performance and support their learning progress effectively.
Apart from curriculum and material development, the wing conducts reviews, surveys, and research studies related to textbooks, classroom practices, and curriculum implementation. Feedback from teachers, students, and educational stakeholders is regularly collected to improve educational resources and teaching methodologies.
The wing also organizes workshops, orientation programmes, seminars, and training sessions for teachers on curriculum transaction, educational material preparation, and assessment reforms. Through these activities, it promotes innovative teaching practices, professional growth, and reflective learning among educators.
